Welcome! On this website I share my story of coping with the effects and affects of my personal journey with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) which progressed to dementia and now Alzheimer's. My postings will include my journal entries and essays as well as pertinent medical and educational information on the topic. Additionally I hope to hear from you my readers—so we can all learn together.
Dementia, in its many forms, is a condition many people face during a lifetime—but rarely discuss openly. It is our cultural norm to avoid discussions about mental illness. And yet, I’ve learned time and again from my own experience that silence serves no purpose other than to perpetuate isolation, stigma and shame. It is only through honest, open dialog that we are able to help each other travel through unexplored territory.
I hope you find my postings useful and informative, and I welcome your comments, suggestions and insights. You can read my writing by clicking the button below. If you'd like to receive new posts by email, you may subscribe to the mailing list.
